Seven minutes changed a Mumbai boy’s life. He received the heart from a brain-dead Punjabi woman from Pune. The entire process was nothing less than VVIP Movement. The authorities took charge and made a Green corridor which lead to smooth functioning of the entire procedure.

A stunning coordinated effort between medical professionals, the city and the traffic police and the zonal transplant coordination committee, which gave the nod for organ retrieval, ensured Pune's first heart retrieval procedure reached its logical conclusion.

Also it’s incredible how Mumbai recorded its first heart transplant after 47 years.

The main headline talks about the suspension of Congress MP's. The Lok Sabha speaker Sumitra Mahajan suspended 25 Congress MPs during Monday’s monsoon session after repeated warnings regarding their disruptive behavior during the sessions. The decision has evoked a strong reaction from Sonia Gandhi who dubbed Monday as a “dark day for democracy”.

Ghat section of eway to be shut 4 hrs daily for a week: After repeated landslides on the Mumbai-Pune expressway, MSRDC has decided to carry out repair work from 12 noon to 4 pm every day until the 10th of August 2015. The traffic will be diverted to the old Mumbai-Pune highway.

Govt mulls ombudsman to monitor porn on internet: The ban on pornographic content on the internet has been termed as “the next ban by the Modi government” by critics. While government officials consider this as an important step in curbing the menace of child pornography, others are of the opinion that this move is an intrusion on the personal liberty of citizens. 

Class XII marks may soon not count in engg admissions: Admission to all government-funded engineering colleges, except the IIT’s, may soon start considering only JEE (Main) results during their admission procedure. The move is a result of the delay in submission of standard 12th scores by the CBSE board and glitches in the scores of some students during this year’s admission process.

Centre signs historic peace accord with NSCN in N-E: A historic peace accord was signed by chief Indian interlocutor R N Ravi with T Muivah, chairman of NSCN (IM), the largest of the Naga insurgent groups, at the Prime Minister’s residence on Monday evening. This could help in ending the longest-running insurgency in the Northeast which has deterred development in various parts of Northeastern India. While Modi seemed extremely positive about the accord, Muivah was of the view that this does not put an end to challenges.

Freebies for docs: Govt ban set to replace voluntary code: The government is set to ban unethical marketing practices carried out by the pharma industry such as providing freebies and sponsored vacations to doctors for recommending prescription drugs from particular companies. The pharma industry welcomed the move, claiming that there is a need for stricter controls since a few black sheep are bringing a bad name to the entire industry.


FTII likely to be brought under HRD ministry: The I&B ministry is planning to bring FTII under the Central Universities Act, 2009 in order to rectify its “administrative loopholes” and “loose structure of work”. Meanwhile, the deadlock at the institute, calling for the resignation of its chairman Gajendra Chauhan, continues. Their alumni FTII alumni and renowned filmmakers Rajkumar Hirani and Vidhu Vinod Chopra are acting as mediators. However, the students association wants the government to interact with them directly.
